Mary Lou Zeek Gallery Wins Two 2009 Top Retailer Awards
Philadelphia, Pa. (August 3, 2009)— Mary Lou Zeek Gallery of Salem, Ore., received two awards in NICHE magazine’s 2009 Top Retailer Awards. The gallery was named one of 24 Top Retailers for 2009 and received the award for Best Local Community Outreach. A special ceremony announcing all of the 2009 winners was held on August 3 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center during the Buyers Market of American Craft, the nation’s largest wholesale craft show
The annual Top Retailer Awards program recognizes craft retailers who are committed to fair business practices and to growing and strengthening the North American craft community.
Professional fine craft artists throughout the U.S. and Canada nominated more than 600 galleries, retail stores, arts nonprofits, museums and guilds in various categories for the 2009 competition. This year, 33 retailers and gallery owners were recognized by NICHE magazine with a Top Retailer Award.
“This awards program honors galleries and retailers for their commitment to supporting the artists,” said Wendy Rosen, publisher of NICHE magazine. “It’s not about the biggest sellers or fanciest shops. The ‘Top Retailers’ are often mentors who work hard to build and maintain good relationships with emerging and established artists.”
